English summary: On the site of the famous Renaissance palace of Gelsenkirchen-Horst, more than 11,000 animal bone fragments from the period of the 12th to 19th Century were discovered. The relatively large size of the find and its good chronological breakdown, but also the exceptionally comprehensive written sources in the form of Horster account books, provide for a very detailed zoological analysis of this material. The findings on animal husbandry, natural deposits, and kitchen supplies create the image of a well-organized, prosperous way of life that illuminates the diverse relationships of humans and animals on a stately home in medieval and modern Westphalia. That this does not represent a "bone-dry" issue is proven by this very clearly prepared publication that provides convincing evidence both visually through numerous color illustrations as well as professionally through well-presented data that has been carefully cataloged.
