Summary
Author Biography
Not that Groot but Michelle Groot.
I became an author to turn my nephew into a goblin. Not just any goblin. My nephew Ryan has a rare stage four metastatic melanoma. He has survived a hemoglobin level of two on more than one occasion, calling himself the "Hemogoblin". Blood transfusions saved his life and continue to keep Ryan alive.
Through my love for writing and an amazing illustrator (Ms. Grace Armstrong) we together were able to transform my nephew Ryan into Ryen Ryen the Hemogoblin. My nephew will forever be able to help children hurt, sick, and scared.
I know first hand how scary it can be to do what your body needs in order to feel better. It can make you feel very lonely and defeated. That is why I wanted to illustrate this story. It made me realize that I am not alone and I can do scary things too.
