Summary

This is the eighth and final volume of the large-scale historiographic manual on 18th century linguistics. All told, it contains some 1,600 articles on the authors who produced publications of relevance to the study of language in German-speaking countries between 1700 and 1800. The articles consist of a biography, a description of the authors' works, and a bibliography. The main emphasis in the articles is on the description of the authors' publications. Volume 8 closes with an index linguarum indicating the textual references for about 100 designations of languages and dialects.
