Author Biography

Quarterman Lee has been a trusted advisor to business and industrial clients for more than 30 years. Since his first Plant Layout at Ford Motor Company in 1964, he has designed factories in many industries, including automobile, paper, electronics, printing, warehousing, plastics, foundry, metalworking and assembly.In 1982, he traveled to Japan to observe firsthand the Toyota Production System at Toyota City and other Japanese factories. Immediately recognizing the simplicity and systemic beauty of the system, he has endeavored to adapt it to other industries and cultures.Mr. Lee has authored more than 200 articles, books, papers and training programs on Manufacturing Strategy, Facility Planning, Plant Layout, Group Technology, Lean Manufacturing and related topics. He has taught and consulted throughout the U.S. and in China, Mexico, Ireland, Canada, Singapore, Australia and Trinidad. Mr. Lee resides in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
