Summary

The book provides a sound basis for the evaluation of data collection procedures to those who would collect, analyse, or read about survey data. Readers will understand how the details of data collection are related to the confidence they can have in the figures and statistics produced. descriptions of people, by taking a sample and asking questions. The presentation of the various steps and the decisions involved makes this a useful book for all students who are considering research. Each chapter includes sample exercises. Since 1984 when Survey Research Methods was first published, the increased availability of microcomputers has changed the way survey data are coded and entered, producing new opportunities for quality control and new potential pitfalls. In this revised edition, the author has written a new chapter on data entry options, including computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATTI), to incorporate the role of microcomputer technology into this comprehensive presentation of the design issues that effect error in survey.
