A perfect companion to The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish written by a board member of Drag Queen Story Hour.

Author Biography

Lil Miss Hot Mess is a leader of Drag Queen Story Hour, an innovative program that encourages kids to boldly color outside the lines. Her first children's book The Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish was released in May 2020, illustrated by Olga de Dios and published by Running Press Kids. For over a decade, Lil Miss Hot Mess has performed on stages from Stanford University to SFMOMA and Saturday Night Live. As one of the queens behind DQSH, she has hosted story hours at venues like HBO's Human By Orientation, VICE Media, the Institute of Contemporary Art LA, and RuPaul's Drag Con; and she has also lectured on drag at Stanford University, University of San Francisco, Loyola Marymount University, UC Santa Cruz, Sonoma State University, and several conferences. She was also an organizer of the #MyNameIs Campaign that challenged Facebook's so-called "real names" policy. Her writing has been published in The Guardian, Wired, Salon, them., and Huffington Post, and her work has been covered around the world by the New York Times, Channel 4, Al Jazeera, and many more. When not twirling, she is completing a PhD in Media, Culture, and Communication at NYU.
